Santa Monica Police Department Thugging It Up For Wealthy Residents?

In my opinion, it is not proper for the SMPD to enforce a law intended to prevent "congregating on traffic medians" against individual exercisers. It may be entirely appropriate to prevent organized commercial workout classes, be they Boot Camp style or kickboxers, from using the same environment. However, there is greater justification for that, than for individual users. A class would be a disturbance, an individual would have to have a pretty enthusiastically noisy routine to be an issue to most people I know.

The simple fact of the matter seems to be that the traffic medians are public domain, and they belong to all the taxpayers, not just the wealthy ones who own homes in the neighborhood.

Santa Monica, wake up. Stop using your police department as a bunch of thugs, enforcing the will of the rich and powerful. Just because it is common practice does not make it right.

Fire Suzanne Lewis, Save Yellowstone!

Ms. Suzanne Lewis, Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, appears to be bent on breaking what she is paid to take care of.

The effects of snowmobiles, or, snow machines to some, are well known. Still, scientists looked into it for her and confirmed it. Then a couple of different Federal courts ruled on it, first in D.C. and then in Wyoming. The second opined that the ruling of the first would stand unmolested. They both agreed that 318 machines per day was more than enough.

Suzanne Lewis seems to think she knows better, and so is intent to more than double that limit.

All I can say is, have fun with the grizzly bears. I hope they don't start feasting on the snow machine operators, but if they do, well, at least there will be a nice steady supply.
