Why I Hate Religion

It is beyond me why Proposition 8 passed in a state like California, or why it would be considered in any state of this union. The United States Constitution, the basic underlying law of the land exists to preserve basic human rights for all of us. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is a phrase we all know from basic studies in grade school, or ought to, at any rate.

I find it remarkable, and more than just a wee bit ironic, that the Mormon Church was a major proponent of this move to take civil rights from another minority. This is the Mormon Church who ran away and started a state of their own because they wanted to practice a rather bizarre form of religion that involved polygamy, among other things. Now they are arguing in favor of what they call traditional marriage, and apparently using their money to affect political issues... doesn't that make them a PAC or a 527?

If the Mormons lose their tax exempt status, well, they probably deserve it. There shouldn't be any room for hate in organized religion. If you are organizing for hate, that isn't religion, It's terrorism.
