Bill O'Reilly Has Come A Long Way, Right?

Recently, Bill O'Reilly is reported to have said "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama." Some may question the motivation or apparent need to point this out, or wonder why he would do something as stupid as appear to be denying an interest in engaging in a hate crime against one of the very highest profile people in the nation right now, but I say - nicely done, Billy.

This comment, taken with his wonderment last year when he discovered that he could eat in a restaurant with people who aren't as white as him and THEY ACT A LOT LIKE HIM! shows that he is growing as a human being, by leaps and bounds.

I can't help but wonder if, in years past, he might not have uttered exactly the opposite sort of comment from this recent line about a possible future First Lady of the Nation.

To put it more simply; Poor Bill, he tries so hard. Why can't we just ignore him? I promise you, enough people stop watching his entertainment show and he will just go away.

Do it. I know he can be funny, but I have resisted the urge for years. You can, too. Just Do It.

Just Tell Me Why You Might Be A Better Choice

Hilary Clinton's presidential campaign looks like it is coming apart at the seams. More and more, the only footage I see of her on the news is of her attacks on Obama, which just feeds in to his campaigns theme of moving away from the politics and tactics of old.

Which is a shame. She would probably make a fine President. Maybe a better President than Barack Obama. If she can't back off on the attacktics, though, I don't expect we will ever see her get the chance to do it.

Attack the other guy isn't a good way to win any more. The country is sick of the current administration, who revel in that sort of thing. Attack the other guy in your club of Democrats just isn't going to fly with voters any more. Mrs. Clinton needs to focus her energies on getting word out about what she will do different, better, etcetera, than Mr. Obama. She can do that without mentioning him, simply by getting specific about what she will do.

This election is the Democrats to lose, or if they can find a way to campaign without turning in to the Republican hate machine of the past 8 years, to win.

All The Castros Resigning Today?

When I woke up this morning, I started the coffee and turned on the TV. Big news on Channel 2 ACTION News, the local CBS affiliate. Apparently, someone, somewhere in the world named Fadel Castro resigned some sort of position.

Fidel Castro also resigned as el Presidente or potentate or whatever it is he was in Cuba.

My guess is, tomorrow someone else is running the chyron that generates the sub-titles in big bold hard to miss typefaces at the bottom of the screen at the LA CBS affiliate. Misspelling the name of an internationally known figure who was in power just off the shore of Florida for almost 50 years seems like a pretty stupid mistake, and not one that a network affiliate, or any news department, ought to be making.

Otoh, it did give a chuckle. But then I felt guilty for smiling at some poor jerk's ignorance.
