wtf is up with "the phone company?" Not any specific phone company. All phone companies seem to suffer from some sort of FU-itis.
I just got off the phone with a CS Rep from my cellular provider. The rep really seemed to be eager to continue explaining to me why I was wrong. I was a little bit rude, because I did not want to hear it.
Now, maybe I am wrong to think that anyone could have made a mistake by not telling me more about the New Every Two promotion. To be honest, I doubt it was an actual mistake. More likely it's a marketing technique. ie, they consciously did not mention that my second phone would not qualify unless I paid more than I wanted to for phone service. If memory serves, they confirmed to me that we would both get new phones in 2 years. Now, if I had only recorded that conversation. I am not quite ready to become that guy, though. Tinfoil hats are also not in my immediate future.
Bottom line seems to be, my better half now gets her snazzy new phone free, but if I want an equivalent phone, it is going to cost me $100.
lol, I get that I must have missed something, but I do not accept that it is not their job to make the details clear when making the sale. Still, she had the nerve to tell me "the company is making an offer to you. We have (or maybe had) no obligation" to tell me the whole story. Which is fine, if everyone there understands the details of the deal and acts accordingly. I did not feel like getting into an argument with her, so I took the course of less confrontation, rather than the course of more confrontation. I really did not want another Apple Computer Klipsch speakers shouting match in memory, so I said goodbye.
When she tried to keep me on the phone, I informed her that I thought I would probably take my business elsewhere. Maybe I will go with the WALD cell phone. That phone would probably suck less than the one I am using now, at the least.
Which reminds me of another issue with this company. When I lost my phone on the other coast last year, I called and cancelled the account until I could get a replacement phone. Nobody ever suggested that I might have insurance on my phone. In researching phones on the site this week, I found that "my insurance carrier is listed on the monthly statement" under features.
Call me crazy, but a lost phone seems to be a perfect candidate for a replacement by insurance.
But, don't mind me. It is hot here, the desert East of here is on fire atm with no likely relief in site, and I am ticked off.
Still, phone companies seem to suffer from some sort of CS deficiency. MFers.
