I now own an iPod, filled with a mix of music from many eras, and podcasts.
The pocasts are primarily found at the iTunes store, and my music is from there as well as CDs and vinyl records from my collection.
I am available to perform vinyl to MP3 conversions. Rates negotiable.
However, a far more cost effective solution is to just do it yourself.
Do this:
-
Buy a USB turntable.
-
Download the version of Audacity that is right for your computer.
You don't necessarily need to Read The Fine Manual, but if you glance at it, you may find it helps.
It is probably a good idea to at least look at this info about setting the program's preferences.
In any event, just try to remember that all the info you need is available, and you can find both tips and tutorials at the same web site.
-
Download the lame encoder. Seriously.
If you are interested in more information about this "codec" you can read about it here.
-
Install Audacity on your computer.
-
Start Audacity and point it to the lame encoder.
-
Plug in the USB turntable, start recording and start the record playing.
-
When the side is over, stop recording.
-
Highlight or select the portion of the track that is the first song you want to output as MP3.
-
Select export from the File menu in Audacity.
-
Choose MP3 as the format.
-
Name the file what you want, usually the song name is a good choice.
-
Save the file in a directory of your choice.
-
Don't panic, and feel free to screw it up as often as you like. You can go back and do it over until you get it right.
